- If I we're going on my opinion I would give it two stars. There really isn't much to it. I give it five stars though because all of my kids liked it. My five year old kept giggling when I read it to him then he looked through it several times. My four year old liked it. My seven year old is the one I bought it for and she loved it. She isn't the best reader but she was able to read it herself. My eight year old also liked it. My ten year old said it was weird but I think he likes it and didn't want to admit it.
- My 8 year old daughter was needing books that were more advanced. I saw this and took a chance. I was glad I did. She was able to read the book without too much assistance and is so in love with this book. She loves the illustrations, story and learning about narwhals. She has read this book many times and reads it out loud to her toddler sister, who is also interested in the adorable drawings. My daughter hopes that the book will get a sequel.
- My daughter loves this book! She is a homeschooled diet grader and she read through this book in about a week (with k my reading a little bit at a time). The only pages she struggled reading were the pages with the technical information about narwhals. She giggle while reading and loved the illustrations. This series is fun and age appropriate. So many early chapter type books have unnecessary “drama†and/or hateful type of language.
She is 7 years old I’m frist grade reading at about a second grade level. We have since read the second book I’m the series in about 3 days and just got the 3rd book but haven’t started it. - Oh gawd. My daughter (8) loves this book so much. She's read it about 10 times. Please make more! Makes her excited about reading. She read it to her class on her birthday.
- My 9 year old daughter loves Narwhals so I got her this book. I thought it would be more of a chapter book but it's a novelty, cartoonish type of book that she finished quickly. She still enjoyed it and for the price, it was worth it.
- Bought this as a gift for a 6 year old who loves animals. I cannot attest to how much she enjoyed it, but when I perused the pages I was laughing out loud. The illustrations are great and as mentioned the comics are funny. 6 might be the youngest I would give this book to, younger may enjoy the pictures and stories, but the jokes may be lost on them. Fun for adults and children.
- This is the first in a series of currently four. It is so different from other books. A combination of graphic novel layout but with simple, adorable doodle illustrations, quirky and endearing humor, fun nature facts, and an underlying addressing of relevant feelings for young people, it does something few books do honestly create a product that my four year old loves, but that this forty-two year old truly enjoys sharing with him, not just for the usual fun of the shared experience, but because I truly enjoy the book myself. As an added bonus, I love that this is helping me introduce my son to a different format of visual storytelling - the multi-frame comic format - that is otherwise usually not available as a platform for the very young.
